Stopping the twice a day retry attempt of an old uninstalled software...

How can I stop WUP from trying to install twice an "Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)", which is an update for a software that has been uninstalled. It tries to install this update twice EVERY DAY at my expense....

Block the KB.... with wushowhide.diagcab

Does not make any difference.... it will hide the update, but only in that software itself. After restart the update is exactly where it has always bee and the computer will be started by MS to try to run it in the middle of the night... as the attached picture shows....

I also tried on cmd... it stays there.

< del /F /S /Q "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\*" > I think I already tried that with the usual wushowhide.diagcab, and it did not work, but anyway with dism I get: Remove-Item: A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '/S'.

The file starts with c87..... and it is NOT in there. I dleted anyway and restarted...

I am thinking about blocking Windows updates completely for 5 weeks, and switching it back on every second tuesday for the security update??? Switching it back off after that....

And you're sure that Office 2003 has been completely uninstalled?

Good question... I used revo and it said it did. I used abbodhis "office scrubber script". It must found a left-over and removed that, and the update notice is finally gone.
