Roadmap to Miranda 1.0 and beyond

Over the course of the last few years, Miranda usage have ramped higher. As more and more people use Miranda, the community is exposed to more and more work of various old and new developers. In recent times, Miranda have proved to be a very customizable IM client. Added to the core ability to change various settings in miranda, the plugins have proved to be a very strong ally in the whole customization effort.

Some plugins actually manage to the push and break thru the IM boundary that Miranda is supposed to have. Aviability of plugins like mBot, HTTPServer, FTP File, AutoShutdown, etc. allows Miranda to be used in ways the devs didn't even dream of. More and more plugin requests are pouring in about other net features that could be added to miranda as a plugin.

As the design work on Miranda 1.0 continues the devs have decided to allow Miranda to have support to be more feature packed that an IM. In fact, Miranda could be your 1-stop net solution. The flexibility of Miranda 1.0 would allow plugin devs more command of the core than previously exposed. Following the release of Miranda 1.0, the devs are going to start work on creating a handful of plugins that would allow a user to track their schedules, set alarms, access their emails, surf the net, and host various servers.

The following plugins are already being developed:

- IExplore (using IE ActiveX) Bild
- GeckoNet (using the Gecko engine) Bild
- MailShack (email plugin sporting POP3, IMAP and SMTP support)
- NewsBin (adding support to NNTP and RSS)
- WebDemon (the evil web server)
- MailDemon (the evil email server)
