Ich kann die Datei setupact.log trotz aufruf mit Administratorenrechten nicht öffnen, weil mir angeblich berechtigungen fehlen. Was kann ich tun?

Die Datei von C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log auf den Desktop kopieren. Das sollte gehen.

Danke das hat geholfen. Erstaunlicherweise enthält die Datei seit über einem Jahr keine Einträge. Obwohl seit dem ständig das Update auf Version 190X fehlschlägt. Kann es sein das durch irgendein Update diese Datei inzwischen in einem anderen Pfad beschrieben wird? Wenn ja wie kann ich den korrekten Pfad herausfinden?

Wenn das Setup gestartet wurde, dann ist das die C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log. Es muss wirklich die sein. Das hat sich bis hoch zur 21H1 noch nicht verändert.

Wenn das Setup noch nicht gestartet wurde, dann werden die Logs noch in C:\Windows\Logs\MoSetup gespeichert.

Kommt halt darauf an, an welcher Stelle die Installation abbricht und welcher Fehler-Code erscheint. Eventuell auch mal C:\$Windows.~BT komplett löschen. Der Ordner wird dann erneut erstellt.

Die Installation erfolgt für mein Verstädnis, denn nach einem Neustart wird jedes mal die alter Version wiederhergestellt. Insofern gehe ich davon aus, dass eine Installation stattgefinden hat.

Dann lief das Setup für die 1903/1909 das letze Mal im Januar.

Würde da jetzt erst einmal eine Datenträger-Bereinigung vornehmen und sicherstellen ,dass mind. 20GB auf C: frei sind.

Danach alles aus C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download löschen.

Schauen, was mit KB4513661 los ist. An dem hängt da auch irgendetwas (E_INVALIDARG). Irgendwie wird da der Servicing Stack nicht gefunden.

Ansonsten würde ich da eher zu einer ISO mit der 1909 oder gleich 20H1 tendieren und ein Inplace Upgrade durchführen. Im Moment sieht das so aus, als ob das Windows Update und der TI da Probleme haben. Zum eigentlich Start des Setup kommt es erst gar nicht. Das wird noch weit davor abgebrochen, weswegen die setupat.log wohl noch von Januar ist.

wo bekomme ich den 20H1 her? Wenn ich google finde ich nur 20H2 - da steht aber bei ich verliere alle apps, das möchte ich gerne vermeiden.
Ist ein Inplace Upgrade auch mit 20H1 möglich ohne das ich meine Files verliere?

Die verlierst du nur, wenn du eine Inplace Reparatur 20H2 -> 20H2 machst.

Lade dir die aktuelle ISO der 20H2 herunter und dann wirst du sehen, dass du alles behalten kannst.

Danach kannst du auch eine Inplace Reparatur durchführen, wenn nötig. Denn der Fehler wurde behoben.

Über die Tage wollte ich das Thema jetzt endlich mal abschließen. Nun stelle ich fest, dass
im Updateverlauf bereits folgendes passiert ist
Funktionsupdate für Windows 10, Version 20H2
Erfordert einen Neustart, um die Installation abzuschließen

Das System fordert mich allerdings nicht zum Neustart auf und auch das manuelle Neustarten führt nicht zum Verschwinden der Meldung.
Zwischendurch hat Windows mal wieder erfolglos versucht auf Version 1909 upzudaten.

Was kann ich tun, um das "Funktionsupdate für Windows 10, Version 20H2" zu Ende zu führen bzw. zu erzwingen?

Du könntest es aber auch als Inplace Upgrade mit einer 20H2 ISO probieren.

Das soll eigentlich mittlerweile auch direkt gehen, von der 1809 auf die 2004 bzw. 20H2 aufzuschließen. Setzt aber voraus, das die 1809 soweit aktuell ist und das Kompatibilitätsupdate für die 1809 vom November 2020 installiert wurde. Und natürlich eine aktuelle ISO der 20H2 verwenden, also derzeit die 19042.685. ABer selber getestet habe ich das noch nicht. Habe da keine VM mehr mit der 1809.

Falls das Problem bestehen bleibt, Müsste man halt erneut die aktuellen Logs aus C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther durchschauen. Eventuell ist es jetzt ein ganz anderes Problem.

OK, Microsoft Logik:

Windows Update: 1809 (17763.1577) -> 1909 -> 20H2 (19042.685)
Upgrade Assistent: 1809 (17763.1577) -> 20H2 (19042.685)

Das direkte Upgrade sollte daher auch nit eine ISO mit der 20H2 (19042.685) funktionieren. Warum das Windows Update da erst die 1909 anbietet, um im Anschluss dann gleich die 20H2 installieren will, ist mir da gerade nicht klar. Konnte da das Windows Update nicht überreden, die 1909 auszulassen. Aber da der Upgrade Assistent ohne Probleme durchlief, sollte der direkte Weg auch in Ordnung gehen.
